EcoLon® Consistent Quality: Here are the facts...

We continue to understand and sympathize with customer concerns about using recycled nylon.  These are very reasonable concerns, driven primarily by two things:

1.       The marginal manufacturing processes and quality systems of many recycled resin suppliers, which has given the entire recycled market a bad reputation.
2.       Virgin resin suppliers who want to perpetuate the use of their more expensive products, so they respond by explaining that recycled products are inferior.

We have been explaining for some time that our EcoLon® product line has a level of consistent quality that rivals our virgin competitors, which is why we have been replacing virgin resins for years.  We have supplied EcoLon® resins for use in a wide variety of industries and applications, including many automotive applications since 1996.  EcoLon® products have been approved by many OEM’s, including but not limited to GM, Ford, Chrysler and VW.  Our EcoLon® product line continues to grow.  Please consider the following facts:
1.       Our EcoLon® has been going into fans and shrouds since 1996 (see link below for data on EcoLon® 2100-BK1 versus a virgin product).
2.       Dana has been using our EcoLon® for two years in cam covers (see link below press release from Dana dated November 9, 2009).
3.       Many other customers have chosen to convert  from virgin resins to EcoLon®, and have stayed with EcoLon®, given the cost, quality and environmental benefits (see link below for several examples in pictures).
4.       We have patents on our proprietary manufacturing processes and continue to invest in our capacity and technology (Patent No.s: US 6,752,336 B1; US 7,784,719 B1).
5.       Our ISO quality systems, and in house lab monitors EcoLon®’s consistent quality (see link below ISO certifications). When asked by our customers, we have tested competitive resins, and frequently found them to be inferior, inconsistent and not to spec, as they regularly use regrind and scrap, including scrap from our own manufacturing processes, which we refuse to use, and find we can readily sell to other compounders (http://www.wellmaner.com/consistent-quality-with-ecolon.html).

We find that the most effective means of addressing quality, and for that matter capacity concerns, is to have our customers visit, and see for themselves, something that we would like you to consider (see link below for a testimonial from Matthew Heidecker, Ph.D. Lead Polymer Engineer, Emerson Corp. after his visit).  We would encourage you to do the same in assessing other suppliers.  We believe the differences will be very apparent and important.  You have a standing invitation to come and see us, anytime.  In the last two years, without exception, every customer visit, whether OEM or Tier 1, has resulted in relatively rapid growth in sales for us and benefits for our customers.  This is central to our business strategy (see link below).  We continue to invest in refinements to our operations, so if you have not visited in a few years, we think you will be interested in our recent and ongoing improvements.

Please let us know if you are interested in more information.  If you decide to visit us to discuss your interests and challenges in person, and see our 600 acre Johnsonville, South Carolina manufacturing campus in person, your timing would be great.  The weather in South Carolina is really nice now.  We welcome the opportunity to support your cost reduction, capacity, quality and environmental challenges by working with you in the creation of an additional EcoLon® Success Stories.
