Solid glass spheres are added to thermoplastic nylon 6 for injection molding grades that feature high compressive strength. 25-40% loadings are common which produce molded parts with good dimensional stability and roundness. The addition of glass spheres reduces the differential shrinkage often associated with standard glass fiber reinforcement which results in reduced warpage in the molded part.
Nylon 6 with glass spheres produces a very good surface finish making this material suitable for highly cosmetic parts that require good chemical and heat resistance.
